Engineering Societies in China: Spaces of Professionalization and Participation, 1912–1949

In China, professional engineering societies gradually emerged during the Republican period (1912–1949). The associations served as a means to enhance the reputation of the engineering profession, bestow legitimization, establish networks, and promulgate knowledge.
