As a long-term reader of and contributor to this journal, I feel both honored and humbled to assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of EASTS. A sense of anticipation, accompanied by a measure of unease, is perhaps inevitable. Over the years, EASTS has become a distinguished STS journal not only within East Asia but also beyond, cultivating sustained conversations with scholars and journals worldwide through the careful and committed labor of its previous Editors-in-Chief. In this sense, I am keenly aware that I am standing on the shoulders of those who have shaped the journal before me.
