We are delighted to learn that EASTS’s editors Professor Joan Fujimura and Professor Warwick Anderson have been selected for the 2023 John Desmond Bernal Prize, awarded annually by the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) to scholars who have made distinguished contributions to Science and Technology Studies. Professor Fujimura, Martindale-Bascom Professor of Sociology, Emerita, and founding director of the Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, has been an EASTS associate as an editor (2012) and advisory board member (2013–2024).
EASTS warmly congratulates Professor Anderson on receiving the Bernal Prize. Professor Anderson holds the prestigious position of Janet Dora Hine Professor of Politics, Governance and Ethics in the Department of Anthropology, and he leads the Politics, Governance and Ethics Theme at the Charles Perkins Centre, a biomedical research institute at the University of Sydney. Meanwhile, he is also a long-time associate of our journal as the founding editor (2012–2018), consultant (2019–2021), and advisory board member (2022–2024). His contributions and accomplishments are certainly the leverage for EASTS.
