In this first issue of 2024, we extend our warmest New Year’s greetings to all our readers. We trust that each of you has had a positive beginning to the new year. Since the transition to a new editorial team, over the past year we’ve undertaken a significant shift toward a more team-based editorial approach. Looking back, it’s indeed been a time of trial and error for all of us in the office, but with gradual adjustments we’ve been actively working on developing a more streamlined and efficient operation.
In our inaugural message in 17.1 last year, we used the concept of EASTS as a “kitchen,” as playfully explored by previous editors-in-chief, and expressed our aspirations to transform EASTS into something more akin to an “open kitchen.” Interestingly, the theme of “openness” did in fact surface at various, unexpected moments in our office last year.
